Santa Claus 2010

I would have bet you $100 yesterday that Wade would not sit on Santa's lap. We took him to Hanes Mall in Winston over Thanksgiving and he started crying when we tried to put him on Santa's lap. So we all three just stood and talked to Santa and he was fine. Yesterday my Aunt had "Santa Claus" come to her daycare for their Christmas Party and she invited us to join them. If I ever have to go back to work this is where Wade would stay for sure!

Well Wade sure did surprise me yesterday. When he got up from his nap he was so excited and kept talking about going to see Santa. When we got there he wanted to "sit mommy" at first but then got really interested in all the toys and food. Santa did a great job reading a story and even singing a few songs but Wade could have cared less. He wanted to play and eat!! Well all then kids had their turn and then it was ours. I was a little nervous that he was going to scream. I even told Santa its ok if he screams just hold him for a second so I can take a picture. Santa off course laughed at me. Well Wade was such a big boy and did great. He didn't cry at all. He didn't want Santa's head near his at first but other than that he was great. He even talked to Santa. Santa asked him if he could say Ho Ho Ho and wade looked at him and answered "Ho Ho Ho." Everyone just busted out laughing at him. When he got off Santa's lap I hugged him and told him that he did such a good job sitting with Santa and he says "mommy picture." Oh my sweet boy just made my heart melt. I had asked him to be a big boy and sit with Santa so mommy could get a picture of him and he was so proud that he did it!! I will post some pictures when we get back in town.

Wade's weekly jokes!!

Please feel free to skip over this post because it may put you all to sleep. I just love the new things wade has been saying and love to have it in our blog book so I can look back and laugh one day. So...if you need help going to sleep then keep on reading!!

I was taking Wade to my parents house this week so I could go to work. When we were getting ready to go I said "lets go see Pops" well I hear wade say "No No Pops" and I asked him "you don't want to go to Pops house?" (which is very unusual for him) Wade says " scare baby wade!" I felt so bad for my sweet boy but then laughed at the same time.

Here is a little background of where this came from...my mom always refers to wade as "baby wade" when he falls, is sick or when she just wants to baby him!! So needless to say wade will refer to himself as "baby wade" if he wants to be treated like a baby. Now about scaring wade...my dad is retarded (in a nice way!!) and does this thing called "the claw" where he slowly creeps his hand up in the air and "the claw" gets wade and tickles/grabs him. Well after wade explained to me that he is now scared of pops "the claw" has moved away and will not return any time soon!!

I don't know about you but I feel like the TV has been on way too much lately. I can't wait for warmer weather! Last week I had had enough so I turned it off. Wade would have sat there all day watching it. So we got the little basketball goal out and played a game in our den. Well he had me laying in the floor laughing at him. He doesn't want to stand close to the goal to shoot it but rather he wants to try for a "3 point shot" well of course he doesn't make many and every time he would shot and miss it he would say "miss it" "miss it again" and I just died laughing and kept cheering him on. Well then he liked me cheering for him and would wait and look at me and would not shoot until I started cheering for him. The few that he did make would make him so excited and he would clap his hands and say "yeah." I am hoping to get "miss it" on video sometime soon because it is so cute!!

And lastly...we went by my parents house last night after seeing Santa and we were sitting in their living room. Riley (my parents dog) walked into the living room to see what we were doing. Wade walked right over to him and rubs him and says "good boy Riley" out of no where. We of course all laughed at him. I think he has heard my dad say this a few times before.

Girls Nights!!

I can't remember the last time I had two girls nights in the same week! Thanks to my parents and my wonderful husband for helping with Wade. A big thanks to Josh for doing laundry and cleaning the house while I was out last night. I am so thankful for my great girlfriends...I really don't know what I would do without them. Thanks Claire for the wonderful idea to get together last night without the children.

Monday night I met Holly and Hannah for dinner and a ornament exchange. I cheered with these girls and love them so much. I am so thankful that they are both close by. We had so much fun at dinner and ended up sitting there for 2 hours eating and talking!

Yesterday I left at 2pm and headed to Greenville. I can't believe it has been 3 months since I have been there. Erin, Claire, Natalie (nursing school best friends) and I met at the nail salon for a much needed pedicure. It was great because the place was empty and they had tons of chairs. It was so nice to sit and chat while getting a special treat. Then we headed to the best little restaurant in Greenville called Copper and Vine to eat and do our ornament exchange. I love getting our ornaments each year, it is so special. Copper and Vine is a cute little wine bar and it was wonderful. We all treated ourselves to a glass of wine, appetizers, dinner and even a little dessert. It is something we never get to do and I loved every minute of it. I miss this girls so much. We have another girls night planned for spring!! Between cheering, work and nursing school I would not have survived without these three. Thanks to all my wonderful friends for a great week and thanks to my great husband for working so hard all day and then coming home to help so much so I could have some fun!! And just because here are a couple of pictures of Wade opening his gifts from Erin and Claire and playing in the little bit of snow we got. Thanks guys Wade loved his gifts.

Wade just loves this ornament that I got Josh right before we got married. He will touch it and say "mommy daddy married!" (its hard to see but its a little bride and groom) Here are a couple of pictures of Wade playing outside in our second "snow" of the year. Actually we only got a little snow and more sleet and rain this time.

Please pray for this family!

I just saw this while reading someones blog today and it just broke my heart. This sweet couple has twin girls that are Wade's age (20 months.) I don't know any of the details but one of the twins Evie died in her sleep a couple of days ago. I just can't imagine what they are going through or how you would even begin to explain this to her twin sister? Please pray for this family; I know they all need prayers right now. I know it would be so hard to loose a child any time of the year but for some reason I always think that loosing someone at Christmas time makes it that much harder . Can you imagine already having her Christmas gifts under the tree? I am not sure how I would make it through Christmas. Here is their blog site: http://www.threedoodles.blogspot.com/

Things like this always make me look at my priorities and make me realize I need to get on the floor and play with Wade instead of worrying about laundry, bills, or cleaning. Sometimes I catch myself worrying about things that are beyond our control like "what is this happens?" or "what if that happens?" I know that worrying will get us no where and we shouldn't worry but sometimes it is hard not to. After reading something like this it really makes me appreciate the time I have with my family and friends. It is so sad because it seems like this little girl was perfectly healthy (from the other post on their blog) and I can imagine that her mom never thought that it would be the last time she would kiss her sweet baby goodnight!! I truly trust that God has a plan for everything but I also imagine it would be so hard for them to understand His plan at a time like this. Please remember them this Holiday Season.

Funny Guy!!

I know I keep saying this but Wade's comment's just keep making me laugh. I know I will not remember them all so I have to blog about them.

This morning we were playing in the den and Wade has this little man (not sure where he got it from) it looks like one of those "little people" toys but I think he got this at a doctor visit or something? Well he brought it over to me and I said "look wade its a little man" and he says "its a elf!" I am not sure how he even knows that elf's are little people but he did.

We finally got out of the house today and went to Chick-fil-a for lunch. Well before we left I asked wade what he wanted for lunch. His answer was; nuggets, apples, and ice cream. Because he has been sick I decided to let him have some ice cream today. When I brought the cup back to the table he started crying because he wanted to hold the bowl. I tried to give him the spoon and he pushed it away, instead he brought his bowl up to his mouth and started licking the ice cream out of the bowl like a dog. He kept getting mad and I realized he wanted a cone. Every time he goes with mom to get ice cream she gets him a cone instead of a bowl. So after a little fit and finally getting wade to say "cone please" we got the cone and everything was fine. Oh it amazes me that a 20 month old can know exactly what he wants!!

Tomorrow we are doing our annual ornament exchange in Greenville with my three best friends from nursing school. I just love these girls and I am so glad we get to see each other a few times a year. We try really hard to get together at least three times a year for birthday's and Christmas. Tomorrow we are doing our get together without children!! We are doing some shopping and eating dinner and I am so excited. I will miss my little man tomorrow afternoon but it will be so nice to do some shopping and have a nice quiet dinner where we can all catch up!

Wade and his best buddy!!

Here are some pictures we took of Wade this past Saturday. None of us were feeling great but poor Wade is really having a hard time fighting this cold off. Thankfully Wade is much better today but Josh and I now have it and feel pretty yucky!! Needless to say we all pretty much stayed inside this weekend. I had to work in the nursery Sat and Sunday but Josh stayed home with Wade. I was ok then and just hope I didn't pass this lovely cold to any of those sweet babies. I didn't start feeling sick until today!! Wade has wanted to watch TV all day long lately. Today I really didn't care because of how I felt but with him being sick it has been really hard to get outside plus with it being so cold. I have got to try harder this week to get him out of the house more. We have plans for tomorrow and Thursday so hopefully that will help. Wade slept until 9am today so I was worried he would not take a good nap...boy was I wrong. He took a 3 1/2 hr nap and I was so thankful. I really needed to lay down and rest too. He woke up from his nap feeling so much better. Hopefully we are all on our way to being well. Here is Wade on Saturday making a little "house" on the couch with our pillows. He is so silly.

These pictures make me smile and make me think...poor Charlie! Wade just loves him so much and wants to hold or lay with him all the time. Charlie is the best dog ever. He has been hit with Wade's balls, golf club, bat and even had his little legs pulled in opposite directions while being pulled off the couch. Charlie has never even snapped at Wade. Some days I just wonder how he has not bit him. Charlie will cry out when Wade pulls his hair or hurts him and poor Charlie will just look at me or run over to me so I can save him. Wade is finally getting a little better with being "sweet" to Charlie and rubbing him instead of pulling his hair. I am not convinced that the feeling is mutual but Wade just loves Charlie so much!

Christmas Party!

It's funny because last week was so busy and as I sit here at work looking at my calendar next week is just as crazy!! I think this is why they Holiday Season goes by so fast because there are so many fun things to do. Wade is still not feeling well; actually he is worse today than yesterday...I am just hoping that we are all well for Christmas!

Josh and I had a blast last night at our Tacky Christmas sweater party. It was so much fun. I have to really thank my parents because once again they stayed home from their Christmas party to keep Wade since we had been planning on going for so long now. We dropped Wade off at their house so he could spend the night with them and I picked up some jingle bell earrings that mom used to wear to top off my outfit and we both picked up two Christmas pins to put on our sweatshirts!! We took so many cute pictures and I can't wait to post them. We laughed pretty much all night and made some great memories. I just love our couple friends..it is so nice to have these guys. There are five married couples that we hang out with- only two of us have babies but one couple is pregnant and we are working on the other two!! There were actually about 30 people there and a lot of them went to ECU. Andrea and I and our husbands are the older one's!! Everyone else is around 25-27. I wish I could have taken a picture of everyone's sweater because they were all so good. Andrea won best outfit and it was great. The best part was the prize she won...a shake weight!! Our friends Jenna and Jared were really funny too. Josh and I were the only matching couple with our iron on sweatshirts and puffy paint. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Thanks to Erin and Britt for hosting such a great party. Its funny because for some reason we always have "themed" parties. For Halloween we had the wig party at Jenna/Jared's house and our next theme party is going to be "Prom." We are going to wait for spring to do this but we can't wait. We are going to all dress up and go out to eat and then have a dance party somewhere. We are all getting together for New Years but I don't think we are having a theme for that one. We are going to wait until Kristin has her baby in March and have our "prom" in April. Josh swears he is getting a blue tux. We are so thankful for such great friends. It has really helped moving here that much better. My poor parents didn't get too much sleep because Wade coughed most of the night. Thanks again for watching him so we could have a night out. I will post some of our pictures tomorrow when Wade takes a nap.
