Randomness

I feel like I am so behind on posting and picture taking. I guess that is to be expected with a newborn. We have been doing well and enjoying this weather. I feel like I have so much to blog about and then I sit down to do it and I am too tired to remember what I wanted to say. So here are some random things that have been going on lately.

• Wade has been loving school so much. They had PJ day and hat day last week and he was so excited. They also had Dad's day yesterday and Wade was SO excited about Josh coming. However we are not sure what happened but Wade was not nice to Josh when he got there. I was shocked when Josh came home upset about it. Wade didn't want to sit with him or do his music time with Josh??? It must be his age-Oh how I can already see that 3 is going to be so much harder than 2. Everyone kept telling me this!!
• WK is doing great. She has horrible baby acne that of course bothers me way more than her. She is the sweetest little thing and really has started looking around and staying awake more.
• She has been a little more fussy this past week. I think she may be a little congested. Josh and Wade were sick last week and I think she may have picked up their cold. She has only coughed a few times but sounds congested at night. She has also been more gassy this week and I have been trying to figure out if it is something I have been eating that is hurting her tummy?
• I feel like Josh and I never have much time together these days. Things are much busier now that we both have a child to tend to. I am usually taking care of her and he has been so helpful doing things with Wade at night. Hopefully after another couple of weeks I can start getting her on a better schedule. I am not even trying a schedule until after 6-8 weeks this time around. Soon we are going to start trying some naps in the her crib.
• Josh and I are doing a 30 day challenge that I saw on my friend Nickie's blog. Basically it is 30 minutes of some type of activity for 30 days. We have done great so far and it has been great for Wade too. He is enjoying riding his bike every day while we walk. I am hoping it helps with some weight loss!! I am trying to eat healthy but it seems like I am hungry all of the time. I am 10lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight but I have 20lbs that I want to loose.
• We have been enjoying our weekends at home so much. I still have about 5 more weeks off of work and it has been so nice. The weather has been great and we have been spending so much time outside.
• I have some pictures that I need to upload and post...I am going to work hard this weekend to get all my pictures uploaded and organized!

Here are WK's one month pictures. She wasn't really into our little photo shoot but I was able to get a few cute one's. She is the strongest little thing and would try to pull herself up to sitting when I would lay her back against the chair! Its so funny because last week she still wasn't back up to her birth weight but she looks so big in pictures. Everyone that sees her says "she is so much smaller than I thought she would be." I am guessing she is getting close to 9lbs now. I need to go back and look but I am pretty sure Wade was bigger when she is at one month. WK also has the dreaded baby acne. I know it doesn't bother her but it drives me crazy because it looks so bad. I hope it goes away quicker than Wade's did.

One Month Old

I can't believe that Westin Kate will be a month old tomorrow. I wanted to go ahead and do this post while I had a free minute. Things with two are busier for sure but it has not been as hard as I was expecting. Of course I am tired most of the time but over all things are going well. She is such a great baby and Wade has been doing great with her. I am so thankful that she is easy going and does not cry very much. I also love that she is a good sleeper!! Here are some things she likes right now and some things she doesn't like:

Likes:

• to be held close and snuggled
• to be dressed and wrapped in a blanket
• looking around at lights and ceiling fans
• bath time
• watching/listening to her big brother
• going for car rides and walks
• laying with her daddy

Dislikes:

• getting her diaper and clothes changed
• changing her position when she is comfy
• getting into her car seat (she is ok once we get going!!)
• being hungry!!
• being wet or dirty

She of course would rather be held but she does pretty well in her bouncy seat and swing. She does not like to lay flat on her back on our bed or the couch. She is such a squirmy girl  (the ultrasound tech said she would be!!) and I can barely lay her anywhere without her falling over or trying to roll. She does really well holding her head up. You have to hold her tight because she will lift her head up and sling it back while arching her back. She took her first bottle when she was 3 weeks old and did great. She has also started grabbing onto things...including my hair! She has the tightest little girp.

• weighed 8lbs 2.5oz (at her 3 week check up)- I am guessing she is back to her birth weight now or more
• 20 1/2 inches (same as when she was born)
• head circ. was 14 (that was the same too)
• She was in the 50% for all three things- I was shocked she was not back up to her birth weight yet...she feels so heavy to me. I am also not sure how accurate they measured her at the doctor because I feel like she is longer too!
• wears newborn and size 0-3 months
• just moved up to size 1 diapers (NB actually fits better but we used the last pack so I just moved her up!)
• has started "talking" and "cooing" and it is just the sweetest little noises
• sleeps anywhere from 3-5 hours at a time at night
• eats every 3 hours during the day
• is still so sleepy during the day ( I have a hard time trying to keep her awake)
• sleeps after every feeding-usually is awake for a little while in the afternoon and then again around 8-10p
• has the biggest dark blue eyes and loves to look around at everything
• Smiled for the 1st time (while awake) on 3-2-12 (she did it twice-once while looking at the fan and once while I was talking to her!)

I can't believe she has already been here a month. I know time is going to go by way too fast again. Wade will be three in one month and that just blows my mind. Somebody said it so well..."the days are long but the years are so short." I love spending my days with these two sweet babies. I know I will blink my eyes and I will be doing a first birthday post.

Westin Kate you are just the sweetest little girl. I never knew I would love having a girl so much. You are a  much easier baby than your brother was (don't tell him that!!) You hardly ever cry and if you do it is because you are hungry or need your diaper changed. We are so happy to have you here with us and we can't wait to watch you grow and change. Please don't grow too fast though. We love you so much!!

Here are some pictures of what we have been up to lately. Westin Kate was 2-3 weeks old in these pictures. She loves to keep her little hands up by her face and it always looks like she is "posing" for her picture!

This is her 2nd doctors appt...I forgot my camera at her first one. Everything looked great and she was so happy and just looking around at everything. We LOVE Dr. Steele...he was my doctor and my sisters doctor. He has been there 25 years and I told him he needs to keep working just until my kids are grown!

We gave Wade his first bottle when he was 3 weeks old and he always did great going back and forth between nursing and a bottle. So I wanted to go ahead and try giving her one too. Here she is taking her first bottle at 3 weeks old. She did great and drank the entire bottle! She took one for my mom too when I took Wade to gymnastics.

Daddy has worked hard this week after traveling last week...they were both asleep by 930p on the couch. WK went 5 hours without eating again last night. She ate at 830p and didn't eat again until 130am!!

We have survived...

Well we have survived our first two weeks with a new baby. The sad thing is she has been the EASIEST part of it all. Between Wade being sick and just adjusting to his new life as a big brother and me getting sick I was worn out. Of course after having the lovely upset stomach I now have Wade's cold and have had no voice for the past 2 days. One day I am going to finally feel good again!! I really hope that I feel better before Josh leaves for his work trip on Tuesday.

WK has been doing great. She is still so sleepy but has been awake more the past few days. She does so well still at night and only eats every 4 hours. She is eating every 3 hours during the day. She only cries when she is getting her diaper changed or clothes changed. Her belly button fell off on V-Day when she was 8 days old. She is just like her big brother and loves looking at ceiling fans and lights. She LOVES to hear Wade's voice and will turn her head and look for him. We had her newborn pictures taken on Saturday and I can't wait to see them. Wade did not want his taken so I am not sure if we got any good one's with both of them but the one's she took of her were SO cute. She came to our house to take them and it was so nice not to have to take her anywhere.

We haven't taken her anywhere except outside and she went over to my parents house for the first time this weekend. We have only left her with her grandparents and the longest we have left her was for one hour while we went to Target. We took Wade to lunch today by himself and had a great time. I am trying to wait until March to take her anywhere inside. Today Wade was so sweet with her. When she cries he will always say "its ok sister" and today he said "its ok sister; I love you!" Sometimes he will say "I have to take care of my sister" when she is upset.

WK does the funniest thing...no one would ever believe me so I am glad I have three witnesses. Josh, Josh's mom and my friend Holly have all heard her do this. Sometimes when WK is sleeping she will laugh or chuckle in her sleep. It is like she is dreaming about something funny. It is the cutest thing ever. She smiles in her sleep a lot but she has only done this chuckle a few times. Here are some pictures from our second week home.

Valentines Day 2012

We had a great Valentines Day this year. It was so different than the last few years because we stayed home and ate dinner. Josh and I usually go out to eat but because of this sweet new addition we stayed home. We didn't do much during the day but Josh got home early and surprised me with some new running shoes. I am so excited to start walking again. We had a great family dinner (thanks to Nana-who cooked for us before she left) and then we watched Wade's new movie that we got him. Wade LOVES to have "movie night" and turn off all the lights and watch a movie. This was WK's first Holiday and she was 8 days old. Here are a few of our V-Day pictures. Wade was sick and did not want to cooperate with having his picture taken.

I had to add this one of my sweet boy getting his Valentines ready for his party. I was so sad that he had to miss his school party because he was sick. He was so excited about his Valentines.

He has said the funniest things lately. Yesterday in the car he says, "My sister is not sour anymore" I said "What does that mean?" He said "she is not red anymore, now she is the color of a hot dog!" I guess because the redness and jaundice have gone away now she is brown like a hot dog!!

I still need to post about Valentines Day but we had family movie night because Wade got a new movie. Well while we were watching it he says "Daddy give WK to mommy to hold" then he says "See (as he shows us his hands) my hands are empty, you need your hands empty like mine!" I think he is a little jealous when daddy holds her.

Josh travels over night for work twice a year. Of course this month would have to be one of those times he has to travel. He leaves next Tuesday for 5 days and I am so sad. Mom has not taken any time off yet to help us because she was waiting so she could take next week off. I am so glad to have her stay with us but we will miss Josh for sure. Wade is going to be so sad that daddy will be gone for a few days. I am so thankful that we were all sick last week because there is not way I could have done it without Josh. I am hoping next week will be better.
