Anniversary update and a fever!

Thank you for all the sweet anniversary messages yesterday. We had a nice night together. Of course I was just thinking to myself last week that we had not been to the pediatrician's office since April and how wonderful that has been. I should have never have said that. Yesterday Wade was sleeping more than normal and acting a little more whinny but I thought he was just tired. Well after he got up from his nap he felt warm to me. He has never had a true fever before so I almost didn't take his temperature but decided to check it anyways. Well he had a low grade fever around 101. I gave him some medicine and figured it would go away. Well it went down a little bit but he just did not act right. My mom was sweet and still wanted to come over so we could go out to dinner. So Josh and I went to Carrabas and had a great dinner. We ran a couple of errands and got home early to check on Wade. Well it was 830p but if you know my mom he is never in bed by then.  Josh bought him a little golf set since he was feeling bad and was so excited to give it to him. Well we walked inside and he was in bed = sick child! Mom said she brought him inside at 730p and he was asleep by 740p. I knew it was going to be a long night. Josh and I did get to watch our wedding video; (cheesy I know) something we do every year. I love our video and we laugh at something new every year. Around 10pm he woke up fussy and did not go back to sleep until midnight. He slept with me and poor Josh slept on the couch on our anniversary! His temperature was up to 102.8 and he was breathing harder and pretty fast so I wanted him close to me. The funny thing is he has no other symptoms besides decreased appetite. No runny nose, cough or anything. Well I have learned so much from work so I wasn't too worried.  I knew it is most likely something viral but it concerned me a little bit because when he woke up from his nap today his temperature was 104 rectally (after having a dose of tylenol.) Well I called the office just to run it by them and of course they wanted to see him today because he has had a fever over 24 hours. So we went in today and it is something viral?? His rapid strep came back negative and his ears looked good. His throat was pretty red so we will wait and see what the culture says tomorrow. The rapid test is usually 95% accurate however. Well Wade is just pitiful and just sits on our laps all the time. I am working now and just talked to Josh and it is back up to 104. Hopefully with a dose of motrin it will come back down.  If it goes up any more we will be in the ER tonight. He slept 5 hours today during the day so it may be a long night tonight!

On a good note I have to say "thanks" to Josh for the most beautiful necklace. I was shocked because I thought the laptop was my gift.  When Josh opened the glove compartment  before dinner last night to "get his wallet out" there was a small wrapped box with a piece of my favorite jewelry (David Yurman). Thank you so much... I love you! Lets just say how bad I felt about the $30 shirt I got him- its the thought that counts, right?

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary to my amazing husband. Three years have flown by and I have to say we are having just as much fun now as we were then. Three years ago today was the best day...a little hot but we were blessed with a wonderful wedding and we had a blast at our reception. It seems like yesterday. I am so thankful to have such a great husband and cannot imagine a better dad for Wade. I knew when I married him that he was going to be wonderful and that one day he would make a great dad. Well he has surpassed everything I could have ever imagined. Time to brag a little bit (hopefully he will read this!)

Thanks Josh for everything you do for us. Wade and I are so incredibly lucky to have you. You work so hard to provide for us and to take care of us. You do such a great job at work and even a better job at home. Thank you so much for letting me stay home with Wade. (Even though you tell me every day that we should switch places!) You know I could never have a tough job like yours. I can't believe it has been 3 years already and I have to say I love you more each day. Its amazing how you work 11-12 hours most days and come home and are so happy to see us and immediately take over with Wade so I can have some time for me. Wade is so lucky to have such a fun dad. I know you see how much you mean to him when you see that little face looking for you every day. When I tell him you are going to be home soon he runs right for the door and looks for you with a big grin on his face. We hope you know how special you are to us and I can't wait for many many years together. Thanks for the best anniversary trip to Mexico and for my new laptop. (I had no idea you were even doing anything... you really surprised me.) Can't wait for our night out tonight. I love you so much, thanks again for everything.
Shannon

Oh I was going to post a picture of our wedding day but I will have to wait until I move pictures over to our new computer!

Bridal Portraits

Today Wade,  mom and me headed to the lake for Ashley's portraits!!! I am so glad it worked out that we were able to go. It was a great day. We left during his morning nap time and they dropped Wade and me off at my grandma's house while mom and Ashley went to get her hair done. Well Grandma was not home... now if you know my grandma she does not drive anywhere but to church and to get her hair done. Well I knew on a Tuesday morning she was not at church so I asked my uncle (he lives beside her) where she was and she was at the beauty shop! Well I didn't want to miss seeing her while we were there so Wade and I went to the beauty shop to surprise her. She was so excited and all the cute old women knew all about Wade. He was such a ham the entire hour we were there. Blowing kisses and talking to the women the entire time. He was such a show off. The lady who does her hair has 3 grandkids that are usually there so she keeps lots of toys in the shop so Wade was in heaven. We took lunch back to Grandma's house after she got her hair fixed and then headed to Ashley's new house to meet them before we headed down to the lake. The weather was great and Ashley looked so good. I know she is going to love her pictures. It was so pretty having them taken by the water and on the pier. Wade of course almost ruined her dress because he wanted to touch it with his dirty hands.  Somehow we managed to keep it clean. He was so good all day and was so tired by the time we got back in the car at 4pm to leave. He missed his afternoon nap because once he saw the water at the lake there was no chance in getting him inside to nap. It worked well because he slept the whole way home. We had such a fun time and I can't wait to see her pictures. I took a few pictures with Ashley's camera but of course I can't post them because we don't want Zach sneaking a peek of the dress!

Weekend Recap

We had a pretty good weekend... I had to work Sat and Sun evening so Josh and Wade had some great boy time. One of the best things about our house (even if it is tiny) is that we are so close to downtown Apex. We usually walk there when we go but it was so hot on Friday we decided to drive. We try to go at least once on the weekends we are home to get dinner or ice cream or to do some shopping. Friday night we decided to go grab dinner at Salem Street Pub and then let Wade walk around and play on the old train. We love eating at the Pub and Wade absolutely loves the waitress that works there. She kept giving him straws (he kept dropping them) to entertain him before our food came. He was so good at dinner and enjoyed waiving and smiling at everyone. I do not have any pictures of us eating out and now I know why... I pulled out our big camera and everyone started staring at us! Josh just laughed and called me a tourist. I wanted to tell everyone it was for our blog. After dinner we did some window shopping and let Wade run around. He scared me a little bit because he would get close to the street and he is so fast these days. He was so funny. He would be running around and then he would see someone and he would stop running wave and smile! He just made us laugh all night. We let him play on the old train for a bit and then headed back home. We had such a great time. I just love our family nights out on the town. Josh and I laughed when we got home about how our Friday nights have changed so much. We were on the couch and recliner by 8:30 pm with a slushy in hand. (from the Kangaroo gas station right by our house.) We did not do too much the rest of the weekend. We got Wade some new shoes from Stride Rite on Saturday and went out for pizza and I headed to work at 3pm. Sunday we went to church and got called out of service from the nursery half way through service. Josh actually said Wade was not that upset this time but I guess he never stopped whining so they didn't want him to cry the entire time. On a positive note he stayed 40 minutes in the gym daycare yesterday without anyone having to come get me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a first time for everything. Here are some pictures from Friday night. Oh Wade also has mastered feeding himself with a spoon. Now don't get me wrong he still makes a mess but he gets most of the food in his mouth. I have to help him put the food on the spoon because I am not ready to take on that task yet or ready for the mess. He is getting so big!

I love this picture of him... he is actually standing still long enough for me to get a good one. I think he just looks like a little man in this picture.
Here is Wade doing some window shopping and showing us which toy he would like to get. I think he was pointing to the puzzle this time. I love this store it is called Green Pea Nursery. They have a lot of really nice baby stuff and I love everything I have ever gotten from them.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the boys. Now this picture will fool you because it looks like Wade is actually being still and talking to Josh. Well if I would have had my old camera I would have never gotten this picture. Our Nikon is supper fast and Wade was literally still for the 2 seconds it took to get this shot and then he was off again. Thanks to Nana & Poppy for our wonderful camera so I can get great pictures like this. Wade is running in the next picture and that is how we spent most of our evening chasing after him. Bless Josh's heart his shirt was soaking wet when we got home because he was the one running after Wade most of the time.

14 Months

Wade is 14 months old today. I feel like I have so much to post about because I did not do a 13 mo post. I did not even try to get a picture with a sign... he is just too busy these days. Wade is so much fun these days. He is talking up a storm and we have really seen his personality change more and more over the last few weeks. I hate to say I think he has gotten a little bit of an attitude over the last few weeks. He now knows what he wants to do and what he does not want to do. He has even started throwing a "fit" or two when I take something away that he is not supposed to have. All I can do is laugh and remind myself how fun the 2's are going to be! His newest thing is telling us "no" when he does not want to do something. For instance today I said: Wade its time to go... lets go and I hear "no" being yelled from his room where he was playing. I quietly laughed and then went right into his room and said we do not say that. I am really working hard to get him to say "no sir" or " no mam." Its not really working yet but hopefully once he gets a little older he will understand. He does the cutest thing though... when I tell him to say "no thank you" instead of "no" he will say no and then he will do thank you in sign language. At least that's a step in the right direction.

He is running everywhere these days and dancing up a storm. He will stop what he is doing and start dancing or bopping his head when he hears any music. He also likes to clap for people... especially if we are watching TV. He was clapping for Idol a couple of weeks ago and I almost died laughing two weeks ago when he was clapping for Oprah's makeover show. He has also started waiving to everyone he see's. He used to wave some to people but now it is all the time. I hate to say it already but he will wave and give a huge smile when he see's girls (pretty much of any age.) Last week he threw his favorite bunny in the toilet the night before we left for Mexico. While we were gone he learned to pick his nose, say boo while playing hide and seek, and say ouch. The bad thing about saying ouch is he will usually pinch me and then say ouch and laugh! Thanks dad for teaching him that one. His favorite things these days are: balls (still), balloons, school buses, big trucks, and lawnmowers. He gets so so excited if he see's any of these and can spot them a mile away. Last week we passed a balloon in the car and he started screaming! When we drove past it he held up his little hand like "where did it go?" Here are a few other things that he is up to.
-weighs around 22 lbs
-wears size 12-18 months and size 4 diapers
-wears size 5 wide shoe
-eats pretty much everything (veggies are still not a favorite), loves fruit the best
-takes two naps most days still
-sleeps 11-12 hours at night
-loves to be outside
-loves the pool
-loves to push the lawnmower and pick up peaches (from our peach tree) and sticky balls (gum balls) outside
-loves to read and will bring us book after book to read to him
-loves to blow kisses to everyone
-now has started wanting to dip food in ketchup and ranch dressing
-still cries when we drop him off at the gym or church
-loves to tickle us and be tickled
-plays hide and seek and screams "boo" when we see him
-is talking so much; he can say: hey, bye bye, boo, boobie (thanks to josh), no, yum, lawnmower, papaw, mommy, daddy, duck, bird, ball, dog, rock, stop, ouch, more, yellow, purple, school bus, wow, baba (sippy cup), pops, Dora, Diego, please( pssit), now (says that when we call Charlie- Josh says get in here now), milk, wa-wa (water), blueberry (b-berry).

Here is Wade clapping and dancing to his toy that sings. Its hard to tell he is dancing but he gets so excited when things play music or when he hears it on TV. We just love this wild child so much and can't believe he is already 14 months old!

Adjusting

Well things have been going better than I thought this week. I just knew we would come back and have a different child after spending 6 days with my parents. I have to say he is pretty much the same other than a little whinny and wanting his paci more. I hardly ever give it to him during the day except at nap time so we are working on getting back to that. I am not sure if he is whinny because his molars are still coming in or if he was used to getting his way most of the time? He has been napping great and sleeping well at night. We had one night where he woke up crying but even when we were holding him he was crying so I am guessing his teeth were hurting. So we are getting back into a routine. I have not even tried taking him to the gym because he has been saying "momma" when I leave the room. I think he is thinking we are going to leave him again. I may try taking him tomorrow just to see how he does. Here is a picture I forgot to post... Wade and my mom made this sign for us when they picked us up from the airport. It was too cute but he was so upset he forgot to show us then. Mom and dad said the entire time they were waiting for us he walked around shaking the sign.  Please excuse the clothes in the background we were unpacking and doing laundry that day.

His cute "Daddy and Mommie" sign

I took Wade to the pool yesterday for the 2nd time this summer. This time I remembered my camera. He had the best time. He was worn out and slept three hours when we got home. He did not take a morning nap yesterday so he was asleep in the car almost before we left the parking lot. Most days he is still taking a morning nap especially when he wakes up between 7-730am. Yesterday he slept until 9am because he was up crying some that night. If he sleeps until 830-9am he does really well and does not go down until 1230-1pm. I am actually ready for him to drop his am nap all together but I don't think he is quite ready yet. The week before we left for Mexico he was not taking one but for some reason he has started back wanting to sleep in the mornings. Today he took an 1 1/2 hour nap in the morning  and a 1 1/2 hour nap this afternoon. It was a nice break! He loved the water and the pool and was not scared at all. He even loved jumping in off the sides. Of course he also loved running around the pool trying to take everyone's toys! He did ok in the float but he is so busy and would much rather run around or play on the steps.

Ready for the pool
Just hanging out

Back to Reality

Well we are back to the working/parenting world. I have to say we love seeing our sweet boy everyday but have really missed Mexico this week. Because our flight was delayed then our luggage was left in Charlotte things were crazy getting back home so Josh took off Tuesday as well. I am soooo thankful he did that. I was able to get laundry done and get things organized. We all took an afternoon nap and it was wonderful. After Wade's morning nap we decided to do something fun with him so we took him to Marble's Museum. Josh is usually working when we do fun stuff like this so it was so nice for him to go with us and "play." Wade enjoyed showing him all the fun stuff at the museum. We have not been since winter time and Wade could not walk the last time we went; it was much more fun this time for all of us. Here are some pictures of our fun day. We were so glad to have daddy home with us for one more day!

Wade loved pretty much everything there but the little shopping cart he pushed and the globe ("big ball" as wade called it) were his favorites. He also loved the room that had the hockey rink and soccer goals and gymnastics stuff. I laughed so hard at him (and Josh) when W picked up the pom pom and started shaking it... he was all smiles! Josh quickly distracted him back to the soccer balls.
