Big Boy!

We had Wade's 2 year old check up today. It is still hard for me to believe he is two. The girls in the office could not get over how big he was. I love that it is a smaller office and they all know wade. I am so very sad because the NP that wade has seen since he was 4 months old (when we moved here) is moving. We will really miss seeing her. It is so wonderful that we only have to go once a year now unless he is sick.

Wade did really well and of course made me laugh. The visit started off bad because he walked right into the glass door on our way in and hit his head pretty hard. After calming him down he sat still in my lap (that was a miracle) until his name was called. I think his head must have hurt. While we were waiting for the NP to come in Wade was talking away and asking about everything. He asked about the picture of the little guy on the hand washing station and the picture of the man on the wall (its a picture of someones nose, mouth and throat.) Well I didn't think much of it and a few minutes later a NP student came in to do her assessment. What is the first thing my child says "wash hands" I was so embarrassed; I don't think he meant to tell her to wash her hands but we were talking about the hand washing guy and I think he was talking about that. Well she laughed and said "yes I am going to wash my hands for you!"  So if that wasn't bad enough he then looks at the picture of the man on the wall and says "that guy naked!!" Oh the things he is saying. He of course showed off a little with spelling his name when she asked what his name was. He also named some colors for her. She was so impressed with his speech and development. Our NP then came in and Wade yells "hey miss Julie" (we had been talking about seeing Mrs. Julie.) He checked out great today and got a great report.

I am so thankful for a healthy boy. He weighed 30.6 lbs and was in the 80th% (he had actually lost a pound since he didn't eat much at the beginning of the week.) He was 35 inches tall, (I can't believe he is almost 3 feet tall already) which is the 75th% for height. They are now doing BMI for kids 2 and over and his was 17 which she said was great. His head is still on the smaller side and is in the 50th%. We have waited to give him his MMR vaccine (usually they get it between 12-15 months) but decided to go ahead and give it today. Wade has never had any combined vaccines except DTAP (just personal preference) so this was the first one. Hopefully he will do just fine. I decided to separate all his shots when I was pregnant with him. After talking with one of my favorite doctors in Greenville and learning about all this I thought it was a good idea. It really didn't have so much to do with Autism but just because I didn't want him to have to get more than 2 shots at a time. I had to bring him in more often to do it this way but it worked well for us. So he needs another Polio vaccine and then he is all caught up!! Wade cried before and after his MMR shot but once we got the lollipop he was just fine. It is amazing what a lollipop will do!!

Caught up

So I think I may be caught up on our weekend posts! It is so nice to get caught up. Here are a few random pictures from this week, I have to add a few funny sayings from Wade as well. Sometimes I swear its like I am talking to a 4 year old when we have conversations. His vocabulary is improving so much every day. He keeps me laughing all day, I wish I could remember everything he says. I do my best to try to write them down so I don't forget.
  • "wade a cutie pie, daddy a cutie pie"
  • "that's awesome" (he was playing with one of his toys!)
  • "I mad...go to pops house!" ( I laughed so hard, I told him "no" he couldn't take his toys downstairs)
  • "I not mad...I a big boy!"
  • "I sorry mommy, pushing you" (I got mad at him for pushing on me and a hour later he apologized)
  • "It's my favorite song" "Its my favorite book"
  • "wade a big boy, daddy a big boy, mommy a big girl"
  • "no go potty, go potty tomorrow" (this one had me laughing too!)
  • "I like Peyton, she my friend"
  • "Evelyn my favorite" (he was playing with the kids my mom used to keep and he just loves them so much)
  •  Wade has never done this before...this was on Tuesday after his birthday weekend. I was putting away laundry and he asked for his new pirate blanket and when I came back into the playroom he was asleep on the floor. He was worn out. Josh loves the next picture (mostly because he had his hand down his pants!!)
Wade and his new bike; he still can't figure out how to pedal so we are working on that!
This is one of Wade's new favorite things...kick ball. The sad part is he is probably just as good if not better than me already!
I forgot to put this picture up on his birthday post. He is showing us how old his is. I love this one because he can't quite get the hang of putting up two fingers up on one hand so my smart little guy uses one finger on each hand!!
Tomorrow is Wade's 2 yr appointment, I am so excited to see how much he has grown in the last 6 months. I am also so thankful that since his last appointment at 18 months we have only been to the doctor's office one time. Wade was sick a lot as a baby and I am so thankful that since he turned one he has not been sick half as much!! Josh and I are also SO THANKFUL that wade has adjusted to the new house. This has made life WONDERFUL again. Bedtime was a nightmare the first week and a half that we lived here. Last night he only cried for 5-10 minutes and tonight he was in bed at 815p and did not cry at all... he said "night night!!"

April 4th, 2011- part 2

After story time and lunch we came home so the Birthday boy could take a nap. He was so excited because after nap time we were going to one of his favorite places...Chucky Cheese! I picked up mom and dad and we headed to Josh's work. Josh works across the street from Chucky Cheese. We ran in to say Hi to Josh and then went over to start playing. Josh finished up at work and met us there. Wade had so much fun, however the two older boys (Dad and Josh) had just as much fun!! I had to remind both of them that it was Wade's birthday and that they should also play with him. We all got pizza for dinner and then we played some more. I think that Wade had a great 2nd birthday. It was a busy day but a great one. We love this sweet boy so much and wanted him to have a special day!!

Mom and dad stayed with Wade for a little bit while Josh and I went furniture shopping. All the good furniture stores are in Raleigh so we wanted to look while we were out. I am so glad we did because we found our kitchen table and our dinning room table and server. It is wonderful that we are almost all set up at the new house! I love our new furniture. It feel so good to finally get settled!!

April 4th, 2011- Part one

My sweet boy turned two at 12:04pm on the 4th. After a great weekend he was worn out. His stomach was still not feeling great but other than not wanting to eat much you would have never known he didn't feel well. We woke up and got ready for his birthday breakfast. We went to Bojangles. Here is my little 2 year old on his birthday, we had a few presents that we didn't open on Sunday so we brought them home for him to open on Monday. Yes this is the third time he wore his shirt...it was clean and he cried when we took it off of him!!

Let me fill you in on the story behind Bojangles. We go every Monday morning. We call it our "breakfast date!" It is so special that Wade and I get this time together each week. Now lets talk about my dad...he goes to Bo's every day. There is a group of people all 55 years old and up that meet every morning. Wade calls them "pops friends." I mean this is serious business, they even have a phone list (Bojangles group) and get together outside of Bo's as well. Most of the women are over the age of 75!! It is so sweet and dad eats up the attention from the older women. Well you can just imagine how they feel about Wade. He eats up the attention as well. So the sweet women had a little party for wade. One made a cake and the other sweet lady named Susan (who is my parents age) brought all the plates, napkins and even a candle for Wade. He even got a couple of presents and some money for his piggy bank. Here is my birthday boy at Bo's. Mom brought home his big cupcake since he didn't eat any at his party. Thanks again to my mother in law for making all the great cupcakes and for my mom who made Wade's big cupcake.

Here is wade calling daddy and telling him about his Bojangles party. My poor boy got a little bit of sunburn on his face from his birthday party. Time to get the sunscreen out!!

After his Bojangles party we headed to story time and then to lunch. Today was a very special day because Daddy got to go with us to story time and lunch. Wade did so great at story time, he did all his little hand motions and danced with the music. Josh was one proud daddy.

Wade's Party

We headed down to the lake Saturday night after the twins party. Wade was so excited to get to the lake. He only had an hour nap that day and he was worn out to. We played for a bit and then headed to Cook's BBQ. For those of you who have never been to High Rock Lake boy are you missing out!! Lets see you have to drive 30 minutes to get anywhere besides a gas station or the marina. Except for Cook's BBQ...it is this little hole in the wall place about 5 minutes from my parents lake house and it is wonderful. The food is so not healthy but it is so good!! I love it at the lake though because you don't do a thing but spend your time outside and cook out. It is so relaxing. So we all went to eat and had a great time, wade was so good even though he was worn out.

Sunday we got up and did some grocery shopping for the party. Wade played with Mimi and Pops and then he took an early nap since his party was at 3pm. We had a family party for him and it turned out well. The weather was so nice; just a little windy. Wade was one special boy and got so many wonderful things. Thank you everyone!! He had a lot of sweets on Saturday and I guess it hurt his stomach because he would not even touch his cupcake birthday cake. He ate one M&M off of it but then he said "all done!" I said this can not be my child; I would have eaten the entire cupcake. He ended up having some really bad diapers that night and Monday so I think the sugar must have hurt his stomach. He hardly EVER has any sugar besides yogurt and granola bars so I think it was just too much for him. We took so many pictures but here are a few of my favorites. Wade was so excited about his "Elmo Birthday!" I was excited that Wade got to wear his Elmo shirt three different times.

Wade loves all of his new toys, he had been asking for a cowboy hat and my grandma found him one. Josh and I got him a bike (or so I thought) and he opened another present without a card and it was a real golf set. This was a surprise from his daddy. Wade loves them.

Birthday weekend!

So I am a little behind again with posting. We had a wonderful but busy weekend. Our good friends Claire and David were in town Friday (house hunting!!) We are so excited that they are finally coming this way. So when they got done on Friday we all went out to eat in downtown Apex. We had a great time catching up. We left after dinner and headed to Winston to Josh's parents. We spent the night with them and then Saturday we celebrated our sweet nephew's 1st Birthday. It is hard to believe the twins are already one. They are so sweet and I just love them. I wish we got to see them more. Wade had a blast and he LOVES Peyton so much. He has not stopped talking about her. He woke up on Monday and said "oh no where's Peyton?" Yesterday in the car he randomly says, "I like Peyton, she my friend!" We are so thankful they are so close in age. Here are some pictures from the boys birthday party. We love you Nolan and Rylan!! (and Peyton too!!)

Happy Birthday Wade,
We can't believe you are really 2 years old. We have had so much fun watching you grow over the last two years. We are so thankful that God gave you to us! We love you so much and are so proud of you. You are so so funny, so thoughtful, so kind, so smart, sometimes dramatic, and oh so cute!! Thanks for being the sweetest little boy!! Hope you have had a great birthday, we love you very much.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

I have a ton of posts to catch up on from this past weekend but I just wanted to wish our sweet boy a happy birthday today! At 12:04pm two years ago wade was born. It seems like it was just yesterday we were in the hospital having him. Two years have truely flown by. We are so thankful for our little boy and can't wait to watch him change and grow over the next two years!!
