We had a pretty lazy morning Christmas Eve. Wade slept until 8am (praise, he is doing so well sleeping in these days) and then we all had breakfast and watched The Lion King. Wade is still not quite ready to go and watch a movie in the theaters. We watched it in the playroom and he would have much rather played with cars and toys than sit and watch the movie. He is all boy for sure. We did a little cleaning up to; trying to get all organized before all the new toys get here.
After our movie time this morning we all got ready and headed to the park. We even took Charlie so he could get some exercise too! Wade and Josh had a blast playing soccer and running around. It was so nice because the park was not very crowded at all. After the park we went to eat Mexican and had a great lunch. It has been so nice to spend the whole day with just the three of us. We are heading to church tonight. Wade will go with us to "big church" for the Christmas Eve service. Hope is doing a special Chistmas Eve service because we don't have service tomorrow. I always love going on Christmas Eve and it makes it so nice that we can spend tomorrow morning as a family at home.
Wade was such a big boy during church. He did so well and we were so proud of him. After church we had dinner at mom and dad's house and then exchanged presents with them. We headed home after dinner and made Santa's cookies, put out some reindeer food, got Wade's PJ's on and headed out to look at Christmas lights. This is a tradition that my parents started so many years ago. We always ride around Christmas Eve and look at Christmas lights and "look" for Santa's sleigh. Wade seemed to enjoy it and I am so glad we continued this tradition with him!
Another tradition we started when Wade was a baby is reading the Christmas Story on Christmas Eve before bed. We always want him to remember the real meaning of Christmas.
